Public sector and rail work were the main drivers of growth.
Rail projects during the year included a new station at Accrington on for Northern Rail, improvement of Ormskirk station in Lancashire for Merseyrail, and an upgrade of Swansea’s railway station on behalf of Arriva Trains Wales.
Public sector projects included the conversion of former manor house, Menston Hall near Bradford, into 30 apartments and the completion of 19 family homes in Keighley, both on behalf of social housing landlord Incommunities.
The firm has also set up Strategic Energy to offer renewable energy and energy-saving solutions.
In February Strategic Team opened a Bristol office, to supplement regional operations in Glasgow, Stockport and the head office in Castleford, West Yorkshire.
Managing director Andy Watson said: “2010 was a testing year for construction, so we are greatly encouraged by this set of results which has seen the business address the challenges of recession and dislocation in several markets, whilst continuing to invest in the business and to position for future growth. With such a robust performance in 2010 and order books already standing at £39m, we remain confident that for 2011, we will achieve a second year of double digit growth with turnover estimated to reach £53m.”
