The project, Phase 2B New Clinical Building, is part of the long-term redevelopment programme to improve the hospital’s estate in Bloomsbury, London WC1.
Since 1995 it has rebuilt five major buildings and has refurbished much of the remaining estate. The latest new building, Phase 2A (Morgan Stanley Clinical Building), was completed in December 2011 and the design of the next building (Phase 2B) is completed to RIBA Stage F.
The scope of works for Phase 2B includes the partial demolition of the existing seven-storey cardiac wing and then reconstruction.
Llewellyn Davies Yang and it sub consultant WSP are architect and engineer on the project.
Advance works are expected to start in early 2014. Phase 2B contract duration is estimated to be approximately 40 months, completing in spring 2017.
