The Centre for Food & Health will be a research centre for food, nutrition and health, bringing together researchers from the Institute of Food Research (IFR) and the University of East Anglia (UEA). It will be driven by funding from the Biology & Biological Sciences Research Council and the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital (NNUH), as well as the IFR and UEA.
A contract notice has been published in the EU Official Journal calling for a main contractor to lead the construction of 13,000m2 of integrated laboratory and office accommodation.
It will be built on the Norwich Research Park. The 160ha park has one of Europe's largest single-site concentrations of research in agri-food, health and environmental sciences. It is a joint venture between the UEA, IFR and NNUH along with the John Innes Centre, the Sainsbury Laboratory and the Genome Analysis Centre.
