Denne and Coplan Estates have been selected as preferred development partner by Canterbury City Council for the £50m mixed use redevelopment of a council owned cark park in Herne Bay.

Initial proposals for the site include a new 60,000 sq ft food store, additional retail and A3 uses, medical centre and 75 residential apartments.

The appointment will allow Canterbury to enter into an exclusivity period with the developer during which the scheme can be progressed with a view to submitting a planning application by the end of 2010.

Denne, part of the Leadbitter Group, is Kent’s largest contractor.
