Tony Douglas, the former chief operating officer of Laing O’Rourke, has been named CEO of the Abu Dhabi Ports Company.
He will oversee construction of the £4.5bn Khalifa Port and Industrial Zone, a 40,000-hectare development that is scheduled to start operations in 2012.
Douglas left Laing O’Rourke, the UK's largest privately-owned construction company, in November 2009.
He joined the contractor in 2007 from BAA, where he was chief executive of Heathrow Airport.
