A Kier team has won a £40m PFI contract covering the construction of four fire stations and a training centre in Gloucestershire.
Blue 3, a consortium comprising Kier, Reliance and Calderpeel Carden Croft, has been named preferred bidder to design, build and maintain four new community fire stations and a life skills centre in Gloucestershire for the county council.
The project will build two 4-bay community fire stations in Gloucester, replacing the current 6-bay facility. There is also an additional 3-bay community fire station in Cheltenham and extensive refurbishment/conversion of the current 6-bay station, plus a Community Life Skills Centre.
The Government is providing £40m of funding under the private finance initiative and Blue 3's contract will run for 25 years.
Kier is the majority investor in Blue 3 with a 70% stake.
The fire stations will be built by Kier Regional.
