Miller to build £120m-worth of new homes in Scotland

16 Sep 10 Miller is to build £120m-worth of new homes in Scotland after buying nine former Thomas Mitchell sites from the firm's administrator, KPMG.

Miller is to build £120m-worth of new homes north of the border after buying nine former Thomas Mitchell sites from the firm's administrator, KPMG.

Thomas Mitchell went into administration in February 2010, and Miller has secured the management contracts to build out nine of its sites, which have a combined residential development value of £120m.

They are located in central Scotland, mainly in Fife, at: Markinch, Cumbernauld, Bathgate, Crossgates, Glenrothes, Rosyth,  Dunfermline, Penicuik, and East Kilbride.

The sites will be integrated into the Miller Homes business and developed over a four year period.

Keith Miller, CEO of Miller Group said: “We were approached by KPMG earlier this year and went through a competitive bidding process.

“Thomas Mitchell provides high quality homes and will become an important part of the Miller Homes’ portfolio, reinforcing our position as a major housebuilder in Scotland. The landbank associated with this contract consists of 601 plots with detailed planning.”

Joint administrator Blair Nimmo said: “We are delighted to have concluded this contract with The Miller Group which will facilitate the build-out of the nine sites which have been mothballed since our appointment.”
