Morgan Ashurst has been awarded a £6.3m contract to design and build an eight-storey development of offices and apartments in central London for an investments company.
The 2,500m2 rectangular building in Gee Street, EC1 will accommodate open plan offices throughout with balconies on the fifth floor. A party wall will separate the commercial building from a development of one penthouse, one duplex and three single-storey apartments at the rear.
The entire complex, designed by Munkenbech and Partners Architects, will feature brickwork and curtain walling, as well as Sto render and a mixture of timber and pressed aluminium cladding.
Morgan Ashurst is aiming to achieve a BREEAM rating of Excellent for the development which will feature solar panels, low-energy lifts and energy-efficient ventilation. The high volume displacement ventilation system requires neither heating nor cooling for 11 months of the year.
The project is due to be completed in April 2011.
