SGB access solution is the height of distinction for luxurious Ancoats redevelopment.
Leading access specialist is providing a total access solution for the construction of a major new residential development in the Ancoats district of Manchester. SGB Project Services is working closely with Ocon ե֭, the main contractor responsible for the redevelopment of the Victoria Mills area of the city for developer City Lofts. The access package comprises nine twin Mastclimbers™, traditional scaffolding loading towers as well as timber rubbish chutes.
Milliners Wharf, an old hat-box factory, is at the centrepiece of the project located approximately a mile from the centre of Manchester. The development will include 261 one, two and three-bedroom apartments, which are being constructed in three nine-storey blocks overlooking Ashton Canal.
SGB is involved in the internal fit-out of the project, enabling Ocon to deliver materials quickly and efficiently via the outside of the building. Several 30m high scaffold loading towers provide a platform for the delivery of palleted and bulk materials, while the attached rubbish chutes provide a clean, safe method of disposing of waste arising during fit-out works.
The nine twin Mastclimbers™, which have been supplied to specialist subcontractor Haga Metalbau of Hofheim, Germany, complement the scaffolding access towers by providing access for workmen constructing the building’s envelope.
Ocon Contracts Manager Geoff Rowland was clear with his request for Mastclimbers™ on this project: “I’ve worked with SGB on previous projects and we’ve used Mastclimbers™ very successfully before. We’ve been able to build on this relationship at Milliners Wharf, with SGB working closely with us at an early stage to develop a bespoke access solution” he says.
Milliners Wharf is a light, modern steel-framed building with the design, by architects Design Group 3, making extensive use of glass, brick and rendered finishes on the outside.
