The new machines are HD CompactLine models from Hamm’s range of small tandem rollers, whcih are designed for compaction in areas where space may be tight. However, they have larger drum diameters than other machines in their class and also have a concaved front-end design to give drivers an unrestricted forward view, A-Plant said.
The bulk of the A-Plant orders have been placed for the HD 8 VV and HD 12 VV ride-on rollers, which have roller drum widths of 0.8m and 1.2m and engine power of 14.8kW and 22.9kW respectively.
A-Plant has also placed an additional order with dealer AY Equipment for £200,000-worth of Ammann trench rollers and 2.5-tonne tracked dumpers.
A-Plant director of purchasing & fleet management Andrew Winlow said: “Utilisation of our compaction equipment is running at an exceptionally high level and this new order of Hamm equipment is likely to enhance utilisation even further. It allows us to replace some of our older equipment and confirms our commitment to ensuring that all our customers, both at a local level and in national accounts, can obtain the exact equipment they want, when and where they want it. We spent over £100m on expanding and enhancing our fleet of equipment in 2013 and we anticipate that we will reach similar levels this year.”
