A £4m order, for 250 machines, has been placed with Terex, comprising 1-, 3-, 6- and 9-tonne Power Tip site dumpers. All have EU Stage IIIB compliant engines and are made at the Terex facility in Coventry.
A £2m order has been placed with Thwaites, which buys 100 site dumpers also with capacities of 1-, 3-, 6- and 9-tonne. The new Thwaites dumpers have hydrostatic transmission and the order includes Hi-Tip, Hi-Swivel and Front Tip models.
All the new dumpers are being distributed around A-Plant’s nationwide depot network.
Director of purchasing & fleet management Andrew Winlow said: “This investment in new dumpers allows for the replacement and renewal of older machines, confirming A-Plant’s commitment to ensuring customers are provided with the latest, highest quality and most environmentally efficient equipment available.”
He added: “Site managers have the assurance that these units meet the latest site equipment regulations and reduce their emissions, whilst remaining robust and hard-wearing. This order forms part of a major investment programme in our hire fleet; in 2013 capital expenditure exceeded £100m and we plan to take investment to similar levels this year.”
