Amey, one of A-Plant’s largest customers, has been awarded a 10-year contract to look after 10,000km of roads in Staffordshire and provide winter maintenance services and highway improvement schemes for the county council.
The Infrastructure+ contract is valued at around £50m per year and with the potential of a further 10-year contract extension. Under the innovative deal, the council is free to put a range of additional services Amey’s way through the collaborative partnership.
Equipment that A-Plant has bought specially for this contract includes breakers, vibration plates, rammers, rollers, dumpers, telehandlers, accommodation units, pumps, traffic lights and confined space equipment.
A-Plant has also purchased a number of JCB wheeled loading shovels valued at more than £300,000 for the contract, the first such machines in A-Plant’s hire fleet.
Amey account director Steve Jones said: “This £1.6m investment by A-Plant in our fleet will assist our highways team in improving the core maintenance service, as well as continue their excellent work in helping Staffordshire County Council to deliver a high quality and efficient customer-focused service.”
