Thiess has engaged the joint venture to undertake the design services contract for civil and structural works, which includes stations, car parks and access roads, as well as the design of rail components.
The Moreton Bay Rail project will provide a 7.8-mile dual-track passenger rail line and six new rail stations, which will also include commuter parking, ‘kiss and ride’, bus connectivity and facilities to encourage active transport.
“Providing a safe alternative route for residents to commute between the Moreton Bay region and Brisbane will be our primary focus for this project, which is projected to significantly alleviate highway traffic,” said Aecom chairman and chief executive officer John Dionisio. “Having worked on this project’s planning phase, we are excited to showcase our end-to-end, integrated service offerings.”
Major construction is expected to start in early 2014 and the new line scheduled to be operational in 2016.
