It will serve as project manager, cost manager and health and safety advisor, working alongside the design and build teams to create UKTI’s pavilion. The theme is ‘Grown in Britain: Shared Globally’. UKTI is planning to announce the winning design team in this month, chosen from a shortlist of eight creative teams.
The Expo’s theme is ‘Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life’ and seeks to ask if it is possible to ensure sufficient, good, healthy and sustainable food for everyone on the planet. The UK Pavilion is intended to showcase Britain’s distinctive qualities of enterprise and creativity to demonstrate how British expertise will contribute to this global challenge.
Aecom director, project management Martyn Evans said: “We look forward to working with the winning design team and UKTI to deliver this project. The Milan Expo will allow us to demonstrate the creativity, expertise and delivery of our UK team. We look forward to lending our expertise to this dynamic project.”
More than 20 million international visitors are expected to visit the Expo between 1 May and 31 October 2015.
UK commissioner general and project director Hannah Corbett said: “I welcome Aecom on board this exciting project. The UK is going to Milan to show the world how our innovation, creativity and flair for partnerships contributes to the challenge of feeding the planet, through Agritech, technology and food and drink. This is an opportunity to boost trade and investment.”
