The contract will be carried out together with FCC, Azvi and Straco and involves the replacement of 30km of existing railway in Transylvania between Sighisoara and Micasasa. Total cost of the work is €218m, with the EU financing 85% of the National Romanian Railroad Company’s project.
The railway project is part of the EU’s Trans-European Network (TEN) expansion programme and located in ‘corridor 4’. It will allow passenger trains to travel at 160km/h on the twin-track electric line.
In February the Alpine, FCC and Azvi team had landed the €208m contract to replace 23km kilometers of the same railway line between Sighisoara and Atel.
