Altrad has acquired 100% of the shares of Deeside-based NSG UK.
It is the fifth change of ownership for NSG in 10 years.
NSG UK has 320 employees and had a turnover in 2010 of £18m. It will continue to be run by managing director Mike Carr, whose father established the business as Northern Scaffold Group in 1971.
In 2001 Mr Carr sold NSG to German company Plettac.
In 2002 he bought it back in a management buyout.
In 2007 he sold it to MWB for £4.3m.
In May 2010 he led another management buyout from MWB with fellow directors Rob Trotter and Rob Callaghan.
Now, a year later, Mr Carr has sold the business for a third time.
NSG UK has expanded beyond its scaffolding origins to offer thermal insulation, industrial cleaning and industrial painting.
Montpellier-based Altrad specialises in the manufacture and sale of scaffolding, cement mixers and wheelbarrows and is ambitious for growth.
Mr Carr said: “There is a tremendous opportunity for NSG UK to continue its growth with the support of the Altrad Group. We will be in a position to release further details of our future business plans in due course.”
The price of the deal was not disclosed.
In May Altrad paid £7.1m for Beaver 84.
