The contract is for mechanical and electrical work on Navi Mumbai’s first metro railway. The financial bids were opened on Friday by the City & Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco). Larsen & Toubro and Alstom had also bid for the contract, which covers track laying, signals and telecoms work.
Ansaldo's bid was Rs1,330 crore (£128.5m) while Larsen & Toubro’s price was Rs1,818 crore and Alstom’s was Rs 1,836 crore.
Board members will now discuss the bids before taking the final decision on awarding the contract.
