Arch, the Northumberland development company, is managing a wider £30m town centre regeneration scheme. It acts on behalf of Northumberland County Council and other partners, delivering regeneration schemes and attracting inward investment to Northumberland.
The new community hub with sports and leisure facilities will be built on the site of an Asda supermarket. A contract notice was published in the EU Official Journal today.
The scheme includes demolition, earthworks, retaining structures, land remediation, dealing with contaminated material, potential treatment of shallow mine workings and mineshafts, utility diversions/management, primary utility infrastructure installation, highway improvements and landscaping.
The work is expected to take 30 months to complete.
