The 11km-long road for the Dutch National Transport Authority, Rijkswaterstaat, will provide better accessibility for the region and the centre of Rotterdam, helping release the traffic pressure of the local road network.
Arup will be involved in the preparatory phase, the dialogue phase supporting the tender process and the design phase of the design build finance and maintain contract. It is likely to be at least three years before construction begins.
“The A16 Rotterdam is an important project because of the social relevance, the complexity and the large scale of activities,” said Sander den Blanken, group leader of Arup in the Netherlands. “We are looking forward to collaborating with Rijkswaterstaat and the stakeholders to create a safe and accessible Netherlands.”
