The USA’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded the contract to Vanguard Emergency Management (Vanguard), a joint venture between Atkins, the Louis Berger Group, and Tidal Basin Government Consulting. FEMA will use Vanguard’s housing inspections to determine the level of federal aid granted to disaster victims.
The includes a one-year base period and may be extended up to four additional years. FEMA will issue individual task orders for housing inspection services as needed during the contract term.
“We look forward to this great opportunity to work with disaster victims and help them recover and rebuild after disaster strikes,” said Beth Miller Howser, Atkins program manager. “The housing inspection is a critical first step for victims seeking federal assistance to rebuild their damaged properties.”
Vanguard is currently recruiting housing inspectors to support this newly awarded FEMA contract. The joint venture said that is seeking housing inspectors who are hard-working, self-motivated individuals who are committed to the goals of disaster recovery. Other requirements include experience in housing construction trades, real estate, appraisal, or related professions, and the ability to deploy quickly and for long periods of time. US citizenship is essential as is passing a positive background check.
