The client is Grove Developments.
Following early contractor involvement, Balfour Beatty will design and build the 452-room hotel with leisure and conference facilities, accompanied by 100 serviced apartments. The contract will also involve hard and soft landscaping works designed to create VIP access to the neighbouring concert venue.
The hotel will be designed to the BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, with photovoltaic panels and rainwater harvesting. Bathrooms will be made off-site as pods.
Balfour Beatty chief executive Andrew McNaughton said: “We are delighted to see that our customers are eager to embrace sustainable best practice to develop a scheme that will help promote UK trade and investment, and welcome the opportunity to apply the sustainable construction methods we have been developing as part of our complex building offering.”
Work will begin this summer and is due for completion in summer 2015.
Balfour Beatty has also finalised its contract for the Aloft hotel development in Liverpool for Ashall Property. Balfour Beatty's contract value here is £11.7m.
