We reported yesterday how the construction unions were urging the SNP-controlled council to drop BAM as its preferred bidder, in line with Scottish National Party policy. ()
However, at a meeting of the council’s policy and resources committee last night (8th September) it was left to the opposition Labour group to challenge BAM’s appointment. A motion put forward by Labour councillor Richard McCready to block the appointment of BAM as preferred contractor was voted down.
BAM admits that used the blacklisting services of The Consulting Association, but only “to a very limited degree”.
GMB Scotland secretary Harry Donaldson said: "When it comes to action not words the SNP has been found out. They had to choose sides and last night in Dundee once again they choose the wrong one."
