The Isaac Newton Building will be a four-storey, extension to the university’s existing Engineering Hub at its Brayford Pool Campus. BAM built the original Engineering Hub four years ago.
The new 7,500m2 facility will have a 500-seat lecture theatre as well as general teaching spaces, a social atrium space and a canteen.
The project will provide new facilities for the University’s Schools of Engineering, Computer Science, and Mathematics & Physics. Specialist facilities include rooms lined with conductive fabric to create a Faraday cage, along with a sound deadening semi-anechoic chamber.
BAM construction manager Jason Pink said: “We are very much looking forward to returning to the University of Lincoln to add to the facility we created.”
Start of construction on site is scheduled for this autumn, with completion in early 2017.
