The second phase contract follows BAM’s win in 2013 for the €130m Phase 1.
The project for Tanzania Airports Authority involves the design and construction of the new Terminal 3 at Julius Nyerere International Airport. The new terminal is designed for the anticipated growth of international air traffic, leaving the existing international Terminal 2 to cater for domestic flights.
Phase 1 takes the annual capacity to 3.5 million passengers and comprises the construction of the main terminal building including parking, access roads, platforms and a taxiway. This second phase will provide expand the capacity to six million annual passengers and includes a total terminal building area of approximately 60,000m2.
