BAM started work back in April redeveloping St Lawrence House in Soho for Great Portland Estates. However it has been working to a pre-construction services agreement only, and has yet to sign a main contract. Contract negotiations are continuing, BAM said.
The existing building is being demolished and replaced by a new structure designed to achieve a ‘BREEAM excellent’ rating through environmental, with photovoltaic cells and natural ventilation. The new building will have six levels of office space as well as ground and lower-floor retail.
The project is scheduled for completion in February 2016.
BAM project manager Rob Biddle said: “This is a high profile job in the centre of London’s historic Soho district. We are using all our skills and experience to ensure the project is a success for the eventual end users as well as the local population and environment.”
