The design, construction and maintenance contract has a value of approximately €75m (£60m). Õ¥Ö¼§ will start in the spring of 2015 and the phased build will take approximately two years thanks to the use of prefabrication and fast construction methods. The maintenance period begins once the project is completed in December 2016.
The contract includes the construction of 258 residential units, of which 16 have disabled access, on an area of 12 hectares. The refugee centre will provide 2,000 shelters. BAM will also deliver various services buildings as well as a school with gymnasium, two office blocks, recreation buildings and a health centre. The construction of all underground and above ground infrastructure, including roads and sport facilities, is part of the contract. The residential and services buildings are equipped with photovoltaic panels to create in principle an energy neutral site.
Various operating companies of Royal BAM Group will be involved in the project. Other partners are architect De Zwarte Hond and consultants Wassenaar Ingenieur, Grontmij and DGMR.
