The project for K College in Ashford town centre has an estimated construction value of £18m. It will provide a new building that will include teaching facilities as well as a technology centre and associated support services.
Ashford Borough Council approved the plans in September. The site has been out of use for a number of years. Speaking in September, college principal Bill Fearon said: "We are going to invest around £25m of our own money into building a state of the art flagship learning centre in Ashford, and the Elwick Road site provides a highly visible profile in a gateway location to the town. It has the advantage of easy access to the international railway station, bus services and motorway."
The architect for the project is HNW Architects. Director Ken Watson has said that the scheme will "create an iconic building of truly civic quality"
