The new school will cater for up to 1,646 children from the age of three to the age of 19 and around 200 staff.
The construction costs are budgeted at £45m. Work has begun on site under a pre-contract agreement and initial enabling works have just taken place. The build will complete in the summer of 2019.
The large site spans approximately two hectares and is at the southern end of Greenwich Peninsula in southeast London on the corner of Millennium Way and John Harrison Way. The development includes community-use sports facilities and landscaping.
BAM ե֭ regional director Andy Mason said: “This is a complex scheme that has required a lot of careful co-ordination and planning. The St Mary Magdalene School will generate lasting benefits for local education in the borough of Greenwich.”
