The pumps have been designed to be fully in accordance with the 2014 European emission regulations for diesel engines in off-road applications.
The units are driven by engines with an SCR (selective catalytic reduction) system using high-efficiency combustion, which results in lower fuel consumption and reduces NOx emissions by 80%. Before the exhaust gases pass through the catalytic converter, up to 5% AdBlue diesel exhaust fluid is added. The NOx is then converted to harmless nitrogen gas and water vapour, and released into the environment.
BBA said that for end users, the principal benefit of pump units with SCR engines start with the fuel efficiency. The catalytic converter is designed to last the life of the engine, adds BBA, and costs for maintenance and downtime are also reduced.
