New contract awards totalled US$53bn, more than double 2010 performance. Bechtel ended the year with project backlog of US$104bn.
Initiatives included launching a programme in Australia to hire 400 adult apprentices for its LNG projects on Curtis Island.
“The extraordinary accomplishments in 2011 reflect the hard work, commitment, and expertise of the 53,000 men and women who make Bechtel the company customers trust to help them achieve their goals−time and again,” said Bechtel president and chief operating officer Bill Dudley.
