“The acquisition of Envi Con fits perfectly into our strategy of positioning Bilfinger Berger as an engineering and services group,” said chief executive officer Roland Koch.
The engineering company generates an output volume of approximately €35m (£28m) with 230 employees. It was previously management-owned and the two parties have agreed to keep the terms of the sale confidential.
Engineers at Envi Con design entire power plants or take on engineering for specific sections such as steam generators, piping systems or electrical engineering. Envi Con's most important recent projects have included comprehensive design services for the expansion of Vattenfall's Moorburg and Boxberg power plants as well as the execution planning and overall design of two new blocks at RWE's Westfalen power plant.
Envi Con has software solutions developed in-house for the design and visualisation of complex project processes. As a result of the acquisition, Bilfinger Berger said that it can significantly expand its range of services in the design of plants, both for new construction and modernisation projects.
