Earlier this year Seren Group took ownership from the Welsh government of the former Pirelli cables site in Newport, which has lain derelict for more than 20 years. Approximately 250 new homes are planned for this £25m ‘garden village’ development.
In its contract notice calling for bidders, Seren says that the sites that have been identified for development “will achieve the very best qualities in terms of urban design and community integration”.
It adds: “Contractors will be expected to demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience of remediation and providing high volume and quality homes with particular emphasis on assisting with sales and flexibility of handovers.”
Seren wants wortk to start on site in spring 2014, with the first homes ready from autumn 2014.
