The 265-bed hospital covers 31,000 square metres and used 36,000 cubic metres of concrete and 4,000 tonnes of steel.
Nearly 3,000 people worked on the build, peaking at 440 at any one time.
BAM project manager is Andy Cavil said: “It is definitely state-of-the-art. There are a lot of features in it such as bio-mass boilers, andtheatres with clean canopies, creating very sterile environments, and the car park is underneath so when patients look out of the extensive glazing, it’s nota sea of cars. The healing environment is on the outside as well as the inside of the building.”
