The Defence Infrastructure Organisations’ Project Hestia is consolidating 80 soft facilities management contracts into just seven new regional ones in a bid for improved efficiency. The contracts bring together catering, retail, leisure, hotel and mess services together under one supplier in each region.
A Carillion joint venture has been awarded the Hestia contract for the southeast region, projected to be worth up to £200m in revenue over the initial five-year contract term.
Carillion did not disclose its JV partner but is understood to be Aramark, a US catering contractor. Together they will provide services for 87 defence sites across Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Berkshire and London. The contract will go live at the beginning of September 2017 and will employ more than 1,800 people.
