The AU$134m (£80m) contract for Corrective Services NSW is for infrastructure upgrades at the Junee Correctional Centre, which is situated on 106ha site 40km from Wagga Wagga and 450km west of Sydney.
As managing contractor, CPB Contractors will expand the existing prison to create a total of 480 new beds. The scheme will incorporate new maximum security and administration buildings and includes the demolition or relocation of existing buildings as well as refurbishment of infrastructure to support the prison’s increased capacity.
CPB Contractors managing director Román Garrido said: “We will continue to work with Corrective Services NSW and Justice Infrastructure to achieve innovative and cost-effective solutions for this project. Developing increased job and work opportunities for local workers and businesses is also a priority for our team as the project progresses.”
Construction is scheduled to begin in the middle of this year and conclude in 2019.
