This is Clugston’s fifth energy-from-waste plant and it will once again work alongside its process engineering partner CNIM.
The project is at Battlefield Enterprise Park in Shrewsbury, next door to the existing household recycling centre and transfer station. The plant will incinerate 90,000 tonnes of residual waste a year to generate heat and power. It is expected to generate enough electricity to power 10,000 homes and reduce landfill disposal in the county to 5% once operational in 2015.
Approximately 200 construction jobs will be required during the building stage.
Clugston Õ¥Ö¼§ managing director Steve Radcliffe said: “We were delighted to have secured this contract which will be the fifth scheme we have delivered in joint venture with CNIM."
To date, Clugston has either completed or is constructing energy-from-waste projects in Sheffield, Lincolnshire, Staffordshire and Oxfordshire.
