Architect FaulknerBrowns was appointed last year to design the building which will house a 25-metre swimming pool, a water park with slides, a 120 station gym, a climbing wall, squash courts, health suites, a dance studio and a spa. Water Technology Inc (WTI), which designs water parks for Center Parcs, is design the pools.
Now the council is ready to start bringing a contractor on board and has called for expressions of interest (deadline 7th March 2016) for what is expected to be a £26m main construction contract.
The aim is to start construction in January 2017 and open the new facility in September 2018.
