Cornwall Council has published an prior information notice for construction of a £75m-£85m project in Truro. Truro Eastern District Centre is a package of proposals to create a park and ride site, household waste recycling centre, Cornish food centre and housing on land to the east of Truro.
The contract will be for the construction of 1,300 park and ride bays, access roads, junctions, retaining structures, drainage, lighting, signage and landscaping. The work is likely to include the construction of a decked parking area to the east of the food centre,  a three-storey hub  and first stage earthworks for the whole site. The earthworks will involve approximately 77,000m3 of cut and 117,000m3 of fill.
A planning application will shortly be submitted for the full site proposals. Delivery will be in phases with this contract being the first phase of construction. Separate contracts will be let for the housing and retail elements by the Duchy of Cornwall.
The scheduled start of the award procedures is 31 October.
