The JV, in which each member has a one-third stake, will design, construct, and then maintain the whole of the A8 Dualling Belfast to Larne Works. The proposal is to dual 14.5km of the road and build a bypass around Ballynure.
The contract signing follows on from the completion of the early contractor involvement (ECI) consultancy phase of the scheme, announced on 28 January 2010. The work will begin immediately and is expected to complete in winter 2015.
The A8 is one of Northern Ireland鈥檚 most strategically important roads, servicing the port of Larne and carrying more than 17,000 vehicles daily.
