On Saturday (27 July) a section of the M25 London orbital motorway had to be completely closed after a 220-tonne capacity mobile crane, owned by Bronzeshield, crashed into a concrete safety barrier.
The anticlockwise carriageway was closed between junction 9 at Leatherhead and junction 8 at Reigate, after a mobile crane collided with a concrete safety barrier yesterday (Saturday 27 July). It took until Sunday morning to clear the vehicle and get all lanes reopened.
Then on Sunday the A66 in Penrith, Cumbria, had to be closed for several hours after a similar-sized six-axle mobile crane caught fire.
It is understood that there were no injuries in either event.
Unlike cars and HGVs, mobile cranes are exempt from MOT tests.
