Creation of the TBG follows the mergers of Davis Langdon and Tishman with Aecom and is ntended to bring together their knowledge in high rise design, economics and construction.
The group will be headed by tall building specialists Steve Watts of Davis Langdon’s London office and Aecom senior vice president Hamid Adib, based in New York. The TBG will bring together a number of Aecom business lines. The company said that its vision is to establish Aecom as the acknowledged world leader in the field of tall buildings.
“Tall buildings have enjoyed a sustained period of growth since the turn of the century but we are now facing an unprecedented economic environment,” said Watts. Global trends are rightly sharpening the focus on high-rise cost and value drivers, and the new group will enable us to bring together experts in their fields, to respond to these challenges.”
The group’s portfolio of tower projects include the Commerzbank Headquarters in Frankfurt, The Shard at London Bridge, One World Trade Centre in New York, the Shanghai World Finance Centre and Eureka Tower in Melbourne. Aecom said while the value of landmark design is appreciated, the group is placing as much emphasis on helping to create tall buildings that are more cost-effective and sustainable, a key part of its current research.
