The DX140LC-5 is not only cleaner but offers “greatly improved performance” compared to the previous LC-3 Stage IIIB model, Doosan says.
The Perkins 1204F engine combines reduced fuel consumption with the power and torque of larger engines with a smaller displacement. It provides an output of 84.5 kW (113 HP) at 2000 rpm and uses an electronically controlled, high-pressure common-rail fuel system (2000 bar), reducings particulate matter emissions from the cylinder, and a waste-gate turbocharger.
It uses cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and selective catalyst reduction (SCR) after-treatment technologies to meet the European Union Stage IV emission regulations without the need for a diesel particulate filter (DPF).
The result is a 5% increase in engine power and 4% greater torque, Doosan says. In addition, traction has been boosted with an increase in drawbar pull of about 18% and front lifting capacity has been increased on average by 10% and side capacities are 12.5% higher. Fuel consumption in the DX140LC-5 has been lowered by 3% compared to the previous LC-3 machine.
