The meeting also highlighted a range of forthcoming major projects offering bidding opportunities for British companies.
Perry and a delegation from UK companies were joined by the British consul general to Dubai, Paul Fox, for the meeting with HE Mattar Al Tayer and senior RTA officals. As well as discussing cooperation, the two parties reviewed a variety of public transport projects that the RTA intends to undertake in future.
At the start of the meeting, Al Tayer welcomed Perry and hailed the partnership and cooperation between RTA and British entities operating in the field of roads and transportation. He briefed the British delegation on the key projects the RTA is considering carrying out, including the construction and operation of rail projects costing billions of dirhams. Examples include Route 2020 for the extension of the Red Line of the Dubai Metro to the Expo 2020 site, the extension of the Green Line of the Dubai Metro, Phase II of the Dubai Tram.
Perry expressed her pleasure over the involvement of British entities and companies in the construction of RTA’s projects, hoping for more cooperation and the exchange of expertise in the interest of both parties.
