As part of SPEN’s programme of works to upgrade its transmission system from 275kV to 400kV, Enterprise is completing a substation design work package at Kaimes, Edinburgh. This involves the detailed civil and electrical design of the main plant works and the protection and control works.
It means that Enterprise is responsible for the design of substation systems inclusive of plant, structures, busbars and connections, associated protection and control equipment and ancillary apparatus for the substation.
SPEN has also awarded Alstom Grid, in consortium with Enterprise, the supply installation and commissioning of an electrical substation at Denny North, Falkirk. This involves all aspects of design, equipment installation and works at remote end substation sites modifications.
Enterprise operations director for major projects and water Paul McMahon said: “This is a culmination of a lot of hard work over the past 12 months from our high voltage design, delivery and bid teams. The development of our offering with Alstom, under the joint AlstomEnterprise brand, continues to gain momentum. It is an exciting period for the team who are co-located at the High Blantyre office. They continue to lead the way in this highly specialised market.”
