The agreement with the Nordic Investment Bank provides NOK1bn (£84m) for the construction of a new terminal, T3, to accommodate growing passenger numbers. In the past 10 years, there has been 6% growth every year and the airport’s maximum capacity – six million people – was reached two years ago.
T3 will add six gates equipped with jet bridges and expand the airport’s surface area almost fourfold, to 85,000m2, increasing the annual capacity to 10 million people. The new terminal will be designated for domestic air traffic, while the existing building will be primarily used for international passengers. Õ¥Ö¼§ work is expected to be completed by the end of the summer in 2017.
