New College Nottingham has announced that it can now proceed with rebuilding its Basford Hall campus, after getting confirmation of a £9m investment from the Skills Funding Agency. The rest of the money will be borrowed.
The project involves construction of new buildings around the existing one, which will subsequently be demolished. According to the plan, the revitalised campus will become a regional hub for training in construction, science, technology and sustainable technologies.
Formal plans will be submitted to Nottingham City Council’s planning committee in early 2014. The target is to start work on the site in April 2014, paving the way for the new campus to open to students in September 2015.
A new Sustainable Õ¥Ö¼§ Centre, for which the college received a £1.4m grant from the European Regional Development Fund in July 2013, will be built at the same time on the former Red Lion site adjacent to the A610 Nuthall Road.
