Arena Central Developments Ltd (ACDL) is a joint venture between Miller Developments and Pro Vinci Asset Management. Originally acquired by Miller Developments, the 9.2-acre Arena Central site was home to a number of derelict buildings, including the former Carlton Television studios, an exhibition centre, leisure club and multi-storey car park.
It is to become the Birmingham headquarters of the HSBC bank.
Site clearance work began in 2013, with the demolition of the multi-storey car park on the corner of Holliday Street and Bridge Street for a new hotel, construction on which began in 2014, ready for occupancy in 2016.
Galliford Try’s £66m contract covers the construction of the 2 Arena Central building, which will include 210,000 sq ft of office space to accommodate more than 2,500 people, as well as landscaping and external public realm works to create a new 'urban meadow' and public square at Bank Court.
The Ken Shuttleworth-designed 2 Arena Central on Broad Street is situated between Alpha Tower and Municipal Bank and will be 28 storeys high.
