Turnover increased by 4% up to £130.11m, profit before tax rose by 3.8% up to £1.27m while cash in the bank rose by 37% to £15.23million. The group’s construction business, GB Building Solutions, also increased both profit and turnover.

The company said that by reinvesting its profits back into the business, it had been able weather the economic downturn of the last three years. Some 75% of work is from repeat business and 55% from frameworks.

In 2011, GB launched several subsidiaries, including: GB Renewable Energy, GB Facilities Management and Discovery Business Solutions, which provides IT support for clients across the group.

The group also includes GB Development Solutions and GB General Works – for small projects - as well as GB Building Solutions.

Chairman and chief executive Martin Smout said: “2011 has been a solid year for us.  We focused on what it is our clients need most and ensured that we can provide an end to end solution from procuring land, obtaining funding, constructing the building to facilities management and looking after the building on an ongoing basis.

“We are not about chasing new clients and projects with cut throat pricing, instead we focus on providing real value to the people we work with, finding realistic and affordable solutions to achieve what they need.  This has further strengthened the solid foundations of the business and 2012 is looking positive for us.”
