The hospital at Roodlands, Haddington, is being developed by East Lothian Health & Social Care Partnership and NHS Lothian. Work is expected to start by late this year and it is due to be ready for it first patients in 2019.
East Lothian Health & Social Care Partnership chief officer David Small said: “These plans will see a purpose-built hospital developed, helping improve the quality of care for people in East Lothian. It will also bring a significant number of services back to the county, so that people can be treated closer to their homes and in their community."
East Lothian Health & Social Care Partnership and NHS Lothian have been working with development partner Hub South East Scotland to develop the new project. The outline business is now being finalised and will be submitted to the Scottish Government for approval later in 2016.
