The four contracts, which have a total value of US$119m (£83.8m), are part of a multi-year program to renew Chicago’s ageing brick sewers. The city of Chicago has over 7,400km of sewers, and renews approximately 80km of sewer pipes and 5,000 sewer structures annually.
Kenny will be responsible for the cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining, and CIPP structure lining for two years with a one-year optional extension. CIPP lining and structure lining has been chosen as it extends the life of hydraulically adequate sewers at lower cost and with less disruption than excavation and replacement.
